JUNE
Jeff Monks, commissioner of the S.C. Film Commission starts in-depth discussions with Universal.

SEPTEMBER
17 –Variety reports George Clooney will direct and star in the Universal project “Leatherheads,” a 1920s romantic comedy about the early days of pro football.

OCTOBER
7 – George Clooney spends night at Greenville’s Westin Poinsett, which is expected to be a location for the film.

8 – George Clooney and production assistants tour the Calhoun Hotel in Anderson. Clooney is interested in using the lobby for filming.

9 – George Clooney visits Salisbury, N.C. viewing a restored train depot that’s expected to be used as part of the film.

NOVEMBER
4-5 – Jeff Monks is in Los Angeles to finish “Leatherheads” deal.

6 –The South Carolina Department of Commerce and Universal Studios announce Leatherheads will film at a number of Upstate locations.

DECEMBER
16 – Casting call for Leatherheads extras football players.

2007

JANUARY
9 – Casting call for extras for a variety of parts.

19 – George Clooney in Greer scouting locations on Trade Street in Greer.

20 – A tryout, training camp style, is held to scout athletic ability at Furman University for about 200 football extras. About 50 are chosen.

FEBRUARY
8 – Production crews begin setting up for rehearsals and camera tests for the first shoot at North Tigerville Road past Tigerville Elementary School.

12 – The first shoot is today at a farm near North Greenville in Tigerville.

13–16 -- Leatherheads films at Boiling Springs High School’s Ninth Grade Campus in Boiling Springs.

20-25 -- Filming begins at The Calhoun, a 1920s style hotel at 402 North Main Street in Anderson. It continues in Anderson throughout the week.

MARCH
1-2 – Filming takes place at Ware Shoals High School.

3 – The Westin Poinsett’s entrance in Greenville is being transformed by the production crew.

4 – Filming takes place in Greenville at Dunbar Street off Augusta and in front of the Westin Poinsett.

12 – One day filming in Chattanooga, Tennessee at Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum.

15 -- Filming in Greer on Poinsett Street.

18–19 -- Filming continues in Greer on Poinsett Street and nearby businesses.

21-24 – Leatherheads filming moves to a warehouse on South Batesville Road in Greer. The set was built to resemble the 1925 Chicago Tribune newsroom.

22 -- Greer filming wraps up.

25-30 – Lakeview Middle School used for filming in Travelers Rest.

APRIL
4 – Filming moves to North Carolina in Tobaccoville.

5-7 – Memorial Stadium where the Shrine Bowl was held for decades is the site for this weekend’s filming.

9-11 -- Filming moves to Spencer, N.C. at North Carolina Transportation Museum.

16-20 – Filming at Memorial Stadium in Charlotte.

25-27 -- Filming in and around Winston-Salem. Expected at Millennium Center on the 27th.

30-MAY 2 -- Filming resumes in Winston-Salem.

3 -- Filming at War Memorial Stadium in Greensboro.

4 – Filming returns to Transportation Museum in Spencer.

7 -- Filming begins at City Hall in Statesville and will include the Historic Vance Hotel. Statesville closed roads around the hotel until May 31.

JUNE
Filming finished.

OCTOBER
5 -- Leatherheads opening postponed. Rescheduled for April 4, 2008 release

24 --
George Clooney, Renee Zellweger begin "Whistle Stop Tour" in Duluth, Minnesota.

24 --
George Clooney brings co-star Renee Zellweger to his birthplace, Maysfield, Kentucky for premiere and Mayor names every day "George Clooney Day."

25 --
George Clooney and Renee Zellweger make the "Whistle Stop Tour" at Salisbury, North Carolina.

25 -- George Clooney and Renee Zellweger make a suprise appearance at the Cherrydale Theatres during a sneak preview. Mayors and officials of the Upstate attend the premier.

26 -- The official "Extras Premiere" party at the BMW Zentrum is officially declared a sellout.

26 --
George Clooney and Renee Zellweger end their "Whistle Stop Tour" in Greenville, South Carolina with Clooney saying, "I always said we would be back to say thank you." Clooney and Zellweger received the key to the city.

27 -- Copper River Grill in Greer offers to host the Leatherheads Extras after the Regal Hollywood Premiere on April 4.

28 -- Official "Leatherheads" premiere at Chinese Gruman's Theatre in Los Angeles.

28 -- First request on www.theleatherheads.com forum seeking tickets for sold out BMW Zentrum party.

28 -- Tona Dahlquist, Leatherheads Extras Casting Director, holds a casting call in Columbia for "Nailed" starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Biel. Many "Leatherheads" extras report to the casting call.

APRIL

4 --
Official "Leatherheads" Extra premiere at Regal Hollywood 20 Theatres in Greenville, S.C. Over 660 will attend the two-hour Red Carpet party, the movie premiere and attend parties at the BMW Zentrum and Copper River Grill restaurant.
WSPA-TV in Spartanburg is the Official Media Sponsor. It is the biggest "Leatherheads" Extras premiere in the world.
