Q: Have you seen the final cut of "Leatherheads"?
Big Gus: No, I haven’t.
Q: If so, what did you think of your role and performance?
Big Gus: I’ve seen some of it before the final editing and it looks awesome.
Q: Does anticipating the “Leatherheads” release create any feelings of
anxiety?
Big Gus : I am nervous. We worked hard on it and I want the film to reflect that.
Q: Since you’re a former NFL player, how would you describe the leather helmet era vs. now?
Big Gus: Players are bigger and faster now. The athletes don’t compare overall. But I think the old timers had more heart and played for the right reasons.
Q. How do you think you would have done with a leather helmet?
Big Gus: I would have loved to play back then!
Q: Did any of the amateur players you acted (played) against in Leatherheads filming try to pull any stunts on you or test your strength?
Big Gus: Some guys tried to go a bit harder than they needed to. I didn't mind it but I didn’t like when they did it to the other actors. You only have to launch one of them for the rest to understand.
Q: When the “Leatherheads” extra players first saw you were they in awe of you?
Big Gus: I don't know. A lot of them played in college so I’m sure they saw a big guy before. I do think a few of them were in awe of how hot I am in that tight sweater!
Q: What did you think of the size and shape of the football. Was it awkward for you?
Big Gus: I'm a lineman; I never get to touch it anyway. They could play with a watermelon for all I care.
Q: What do you think of the trailer where you slugged two players and then the official? Have there been occasions in your playing career you would have enjoyed that opportunity?
Big Gus: I'm usually too tired for all that extra stuff. Ha ha. But it was awesome to get that spot in the trailer and be on a Super Bowl commercial.
Q: OK, final question. What did you think of the Super Bowl? Did you watch it and what team did you pick?
Big Gus: Yes, I watched it! I’m a Jersey boy who grew up 20 minutes from Giants stadium. G-I-A-N-T-S!
We all hope your premiere party goes well. We had a great time in the Carolina’s and everyone treated us great. Thanks again from all the boys.
