Not exactly star struck
Matthew McCarson wanted to see what all the fuss was about.
His mother, Kelly Myers, had signed up as an extra at Haywood Mall
in Greenville, South Carolina, for the movie Leatherheads.
Never mind it starred two of Hollywoods most stunning actors
and Oscar winners George Clooney and Renee Zellweger.
Matthews brothers, Adam and Austin, had already had success
at Travelers Rest. That they were 11 and 8, respectively, didnt
hurt. Matthew, 15, was put in the same category as the adults and
his youthfulness may have worked against him.
However, for one day Matthew went to Charlotte and his family to
be an extra at Memorial Stadium.
Good height on jumping the wall
It was an unusually slow day shooting with most of the filming taking
place with fans in the stands being positioned for crowd shots,
during some of the first scenes of the movie. But he was quick enough
to draw the attention of the crew to be placed near the wall so
he could jump it in a game-ending shoot. While the crowd cheered
wildly for the Princeton team at the end of the game, Matthew hopped
the wall between fans and went on the field to greet Carter and
the team.
Matthew decided that he would call it a career after a days
shooting. |
