A Clooney moment: Almost run over by George Clooney at the ‘Emerson Hotel’
My name is Jan Bilton and I had the role of a hotel guest at the “Emerson Hotel.” The city was supposed to be Chicago, Illinois. The scene was shot at the Poinsett Hotel in Greenville but no one would have known it was the Poinsett because they had everything changed to read Emerson Hotel.
The scene I was in was great because there were only nine women that were in the scene so I think I got some screen time! George Clooney was in the scene riding his motorcycle that came within inches of me. The other extras laughed because they said I almost got “ran over” by George Clooney.
I am from Columbia, South Carolina and have had the opportunity to have worked on seven films as an extra in the last three years. I really have enjoyed each and everyone one of them.
|Leatherheads was no exception as it was another really fun one to work on. I always like the movies that are period pieces because you got to dress up in all that fun attire that wardrobe provides. Wardrobe gave me a beautiful coat with a mink collar and a funky little blue hat. Shoes that looked like my grandmothers, brown gloves, and a brown leather pocketbook.
I think the best part of being an extra is the opportunity to meet other people. I have met people while waiting to be called onto the set and have developed some special friendships that I value very much.
Being an extra is a unique experience you either love it or you hate it. I now list being an extra as a hobby, which I thoroughly enjoy.
